Wafa Ali

Profile

Wafa Ali is a seasoned educator with over 14 years of experience in teaching English as a Second Language across diverse international settings. Her teaching journey began in South Korea and had since spanned teaching students from Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Mainland China, giving her a deep appreciation for various cultural and educational contexts. Holding a master's degree in international affairs from The New School University and a CELTA certification, Wafa brings an alternative global perspective to her teaching approach.

Her enthusiasm for cross-cultural exchange was sparked by a homestay in West Asia during her teenage years, which deepened her understanding of language immersion and intercultural dynamics. This experience laid the groundwork for a transformative study abroad journey in Beijing, China, in 2007. Her time in China further fueled her drive for global affairs and intercultural communication. This foundation was then expanded during a graduate internship at an NGO youth organization in Hong Kong in 2013, where she refined her knowledge of global affairs and rigorous academic research.

In 2014, Wafa moved to Japan as part of the JET Programme, teaching English in public schools. She later became a Global Studies instructor at a University High School, where she fostered global awareness and language acquisition. Wafa also led students on a summer study abroad program to the University of Toronto in Canada, further enriching their educational experiences.
