Andy Brown

Profile

Call me Andy. Some years ago – I don’t remember how long – with very little money in my wallet, and after studying English literature in Seattle, Washington (USA), I decided to teach English in South Korea. In Seoul, I studied language education as an international student. After I graduated, I moved to Tokyo to teach academic English to university students. One day I hope to write the greatest novel of all time – but for now I’m writing research papers about student-student interaction, feedback techniques, and AI-student interaction. I have learned that it’s much easier to write the greatest novel of all time than the greatest research paper of all time, though I have yet to do either. Will you do it before me? I certainly hope so.

Message

When someone asks me about the best way to learn English, I often think of this famous saying: “Use it or lose it.”

What does that mean? To me, it means that if we do not use the skills we learn, we will forget those skills. So, in my course, you will use English in various communicative tasks. With your classmates, you will share your insights on current academic topics through all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will not only learn English – you will know how use English practically for many years after you graduate.
