H.E. Dr. Aurelijus Zykas, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Japan, delivered a lecture titled “Lithuania Unveiled: Culture, Nature, Policy, and Future Challenges” on 15 October 2025.

In conjunction with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Zambia and Japan, and with the efforts of the Yokohama city government toward hosting in Yokohama the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in August 2025, His Excellency Dr. Tobias Mulimbika, Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to Japan, was invited to give a lecture on the bilateral relations between Zambia and Japan, and the investment opportunities in Zambia.

As part of the activities of Mois de la France à Yokohama (French Month in Yokohama), His Excellency Philippe Setton, Ambassador of France to Japan delivered a captivating lecture under the theme “Ten Years of Exceptional France-Japan Partnership: Lessons and Perspectives”.

As a part of the activities in commemoration of the 160th anniversary of Japan-German relationship, and the 10th anniversary of partnership between the cities of Yokohama and Frankfurt, Dr. Clemens von Goetze, Ambassador of Germany to Japan, was invited on December 16, 2021 to give an online lecture titled “Germany and Japan: Partners in Overcoming the Challenges of the 21st Century”.

This year, we were unable to invite the lecturer to campus due to COVID-19; however, in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Yokohama and Vancouver, Mr. Ian Burney, the Ambassador of Canada to Japan, delivered a lecture titled “From rocks and logs to AI: Canada-Japan trade relations in a turbulent global environment” on Zoom Webinar on December 16, 2020.

H.E. Mr. Lulama Smuts Ngonyama, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa, delivered a lecture titled “South Africa before 1994, after 1994 and Collaboration with Japan” on 11 July 2019. Professor Eiichi Yoshida, who is an expert in African Studies, served as a moderator.

H.E. Ambassador of France to Japan delivered lecture on the European policy of President Emmanuel Macron.

As part of Yokohama City University’s annual international lecture series by foreign ambassadors, the Canadian Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Mackenzie Clugston was invited to deliver a lecture to the students of YCU on November 17, 2015.
