Message from the Dean

Japanese society is undergoing significant transformation, driven by a declining birthrate and aging population, the need to respond to global developments, and rapid advancements in IT technologies, including artificial intelligence. At the Graduate School of International Management, which is dedicated to the education and research of social sciences, we are committed to staying attuned to these societal shifts and addressing them with agility and insight.

Established in 2009, our graduate school aims to cultivate professionals who possess a deep understanding of international rules and the ability to adapt to evolving market environments and institutional frameworks. We seek to nurture individuals who can enhance the overall quality of organizations in a globalized world and contribute to the development of industrial clusters in international regions.

In 2016, we launched the Service Science Research Program to support specialized research into Japan’s service industries, which have garnered global attention. This initiative is designed to develop service professionals who can thrive in companies advancing globalization.

Our master’s program includes the Social Innovation MBA Program (SIMBA), which equips working professionals with the skills to address pressing social issues—many of which are also evident in Yokohama—and to make meaningful contributions on the global stage. Additionally, the YCU EconMasters Program offers a coursework-based economics education, modeled after leading institutions in Europe and the United States. This program trains students to apply advanced data analysis techniques grounded in economics to enhance the well-being of local communities.

At the doctoral level, we are committed to fostering advanced researchers. To support the development of outstanding doctoral talent, we offer competitive scholarship programs for exceptional students.

Through these initiatives, our graduate school strives to be a leading institution for education and research that responds to the evolving needs of society and prepares individuals to tackle the most pressing challenges in business today. We warmly welcome students who are driven by a clear research vision and a strong desire to contribute to the future of global business.

We look forward to supporting your journey as you grow into a leader at the forefront of innovation and change.
