the International Academic Consortium for Sustainable Cities (IACSC)
What is the IACSC?
The International Academic Consortium for Sustainable Cities (IACSC) was formed to contribute to promote sustainable cities by networking universities mainly in Asia, fostering collaboration with cities, international organizations, development agencies and NGOs. In particular, the IACSC aims to provide a platform for the discussion of fundamental sustainability issues and sharing of key research findings. In addition, the consortium aims to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue and networking to further the knowledge of academics, practitioners and professionals in the field of urban sustainability. Supported by organizations such as the World Bank and JICA, the consortium's activities concentrate on sustainability in three distinct areas: the environment, urban planning, and public health. To facilitate the exchange of information and resources in these key fields, members of the consortium work closely to compile examples of case studies, match the needs of cities with specific research, and log the progress of pilot projects in reports published online.
