YCU and IGES agreed to collaborate to promote research on the sustainability agenda of Asia and the Pacific

On 26 July 2011, and Yokohama City University (YCU) and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to extend collaboration in addressing the important sustainability agenda of Asia and the Pacific, in such a way as to create synergies and complementarities between the two organisations.
The collaborative activities under the MOU will include joint research activities and publications as well as joint organisation of and participation in seminars and symposiums. Further details of any collaborative activities will be described in the individual agreement to be developed by the two organisations in future.
The International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP) 2011 expert workshops will be co-hosted by Yokohama City University and IGES on 26 and 27 July, and will focus on good practices and good polices in local governments in response to the challenges associated with the tsunami-related disaster in East Japan, such as energy reduction efforts at the peak energy consumption time during the summer months, as well as the introduction of photovoltaic power generation for public facilities, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and households.
