Message from the President
Fostering Individuals with a Global Perspective and Highly Creative Minds

As the globalization of society advances apace and the part played by self-sufficient cities grows daily, I believe that Yokohama City University's role is to foster the development of proactive individuals who will support cities like Yokohama. In response to the trust placed in us as a public university by the citizens of Yokohama, we will foster the development of individuals who have a global perspective and highly creative minds. These individuals will support such metropolises as the international city of Yokohama.
The Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11 greatly altered the Japanese people's sense of values and outlook on life. As a result, I believe that our nation's social structure will gradually change over time. All Japanese people must desire to live creatively and be fully determined to live through a new era.
Yokohama City University's goal is to use its independently developed educational system to foster the growth of individuals who will creatively open the way to the future and the development of gifted leaders who will directly shape the destiny of our nation.
Furthermore, in building a university that is open to the world, we will advance YCU's globalization in line with the YCU Mission. Moreover, we will further increase the reinvestment of research findings and intellectual property in the local community and increase contributions to the community through medical treatment.
Tsutomu FUSE / President
