Science Summer Program 2010 "Frontier Life Sciences towards Global Health"

The third "YCU Science Summer Program" was held from August 15th to 20th.
The theme this time was "Frontier Life Sciences towards Global Health". YCU students, joined by 13 students from affiliated universities in five countries, visited sites of cutting edge research such as the RIKEN Yokohama Institute, the Advanced Research Laboratories of the University of Tokyo and the YCU Advanced Medical Research Center, where they took part in lectures, practical study and debates.
In this program, all communication including lectures and debates are held in English. For YCU students, who have been learning practical English as part of their daily studies, these five days provided a chance to test their own ability and intensify international exchanges.
By gathering with students from different cultures and disciplines, and holding discussions based on lectures by specialists in various fields, they learnt the importance of approaching individual problems from multiple angles and cooperating with researchers from different fields in order to solve problems.
