The current facility was built in April 1995, and life science researches have been conducted in 6 research departments. After the incorporation, Kihara Institute for Biological Research succeeded the idea on research of late Dr. Hitoshi Kihara who proposed the concept of genome, and promotes researches in cooperation with organizations such as Riken, taking advantage of wheat and red pepper germplasms held by the Institute. The Institute also aims to make a wide contribution to society through research results.
