Course goalsWhile gaining important study skills such as note taking, speed reading, vocabulary development and ways of asking questions in lectures, students will learn to identify and think about problems common to the various different education systems occurring in the world.
Course outlineThis course will introduce students to the way college level classes in America are conducted. Students will be expected to participate actively in lectures and discussions. Lectures will be given on the education systems in various countries and on various issues that affect education in the world.. It is expected that lectures will introduce the systems in some or all of the following: the USA, Japan, France, China, India, Nigeria, Israel, Australia etc.
Evaluation Scale and PoliciesAttendance will count for 50% of the final grade. In addition to attendance, students will be graded on a midterm position paper and final position paper.
PrerequisitesOnly students who have passed Practical English may register for this class.
