Course goalsThis is a literature content course in which students will read, discuss and write about authentic contemporary literature in English from around the world.
Course outlineThis is a literature content course in which students will read, discuss and write about authentic contemporary literature in English from around the world. Students will read international short stories, flash fiction, and novels in English from around the world. Discussions will included related culture and history. Discussions in class will focus on literary elements and criticism. Discussion methods will vary and will include Literature Circles, presentations and student-led discussions.
Evaluation Scale and PoliciesGrades will be based on homework, participation and written reflections.
Prerequisites
Texts, materials, and suppliesThere is no textbook but students will be required to purchase one novel (about 500-1,000 yen). There will be many handouts in this class.
